Religion in its basic form is the idea of having a set of rules as a guideline to become a better human being or having a better life.
Some people believe in someone while others in something.
Its a great thing that we are able to choose our beliefs and how to live our lives and that is what ultimately separates us from other species.
We can dislike, protest against and try to prove otherwise but what we can't really do is force change ones believes.
That would be stupid.
The reason is that looking back on history of mankind, no one ever came up with a perfect solution for a perfect life, and merely due to the simple fact that even the definition or interpertation of 'perfect life', is arguable in the most part.
"Belief is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true." (wiki)
The word 'belief' itself implies that we might have a reason to think that its true, but no proof is provided, scientific or else.
For instance, if god would have been a proven fact, people wouldn't have to believe in him, they would have KNOW him.
When reality is clear and is unquestionable, its not belief anymore but knowing.
But what if one mans belief denies the existence of his neighbours belief?
Its a paradox which can only be resolved by eliminate either one of the parties from the equasion.
What reveals to us over and over again when we look at the israeli-arabic conflict, is exactly that.
How can we negotiate with someone who believes that we should die for not sharing the same beliefs?
What can we offer them?
Money? land?
It's like having an everlasting debate with a 2 years old who wants 10 cookies.
"You can have 2"
"... 10"
How can we force to play by a social based rules on a counterpart which violently does not acknoledge them?
How long can we keep up with this charade?
Didn't we try any resolution possible?
Consciously, we are turn our chick to the other way wishing for a slap in the face that can be healed by the grace of time.
Luckily, We are nothing but a group of believers that wish to live in peace.
No more no less just 'leave' and let live.
When you come to think about it...
